Objective: To understand what Filebase is and how to use it.

What is Filebase?

Filebase is a game asset plugin built by GameDevHQ with the purpose of helping you build video games quickly and easily with ready made assets. Many of the assets come with pre-scripted animations, particle effects and sounds.

How to Install It?

This is as simple as 3 quick steps:

  1. Purchase your 1-year membership from the website:
    https://sales.gamedevhq.com/filebase/
  2. At the top of this page, click the download link (shown below) and drag and drop or import into the project folder you have open in Unity.

3. You will now have a new drop down menu option at the top of Unity:

Click on this, then ‘Open’. It will open a separate window that asks you to login with the credentials you used to sign up with. You are now in!

How to Use it and Grab Assets?

With Filebase open you can simply use the search toolbar to try and locate an asset that you are looking for or alternatively use the drop down menu next to it ‘All Assets’ and manually search your way through many categories. In this example I will be searching for ‘Spaceassets:

Click on the asset you want to use:

Then hit ‘Download’:

It will then generate a new pop up window that asks you to confirm which assets you would like imported:

Once confirmed, they should be now sitting in your Project folder in your open Unity project!

Voila!
